Lemon Eucalyptus Natural Insect Repellent
Go natural – and use lemon eucalyptus pure essential oil to keep mosquitoes away this season. Mosquitoes naturally don’t like the scent of lemon or eucalyptus, and with this essential oil, you can dilute it and use it on your skin, add it to lotions and soaps, even use it in a liquid potpourri instead of burning expensive citronella candles (check out this lemon eucalyptus fragrance diffuser!).
This undiluted essential oil is a great value, since a little goes a long way, and you can use it in a variety of ways. How to Use Lemon Eucalyptus Oil as a Repellent
Summertime is about warm weather, being outside – and enjoying it! That’s where mosquito and bug repellent come into the picture. We want something that works – but at the same is convenient, doesn’t smell terrible, confines us to a small space or makes us feel like we’re covered in sticky lotion full of chemicals.
I’ve recently read a lot about Lemon Eucalyptus oil and it’s benefits as an insect repellent. Not only is it natural, but mosquitoes and other flying insects can’t stand the smell. As an essential oil, lemon eucalyptus can be diluted, so you get a good value for your money. On the other hand, since it is so highly concentrated, you don’t have to use a s much – meaning you don’t have to cover your entire body with it for the scent to be effective. And it’s not as greasy as many other oils.
So what if you don’t want to apply any oil to your body – use it in a diffuser, or a candle – or several if you want to cover a larger space. This natural repellent works hard for up to 6 hours – longer than your citronella product, which so many people are familiar with.
Many essential oils recommend being diluted before applied to the skin. In addition, take care when applying to small children, as too much oil (or too concentrated) can sometimes cause a skin rash (although I have not had an experience with this).
